Hi Robbie, don't know about your country but the manufacturer of mine had optional extension 'arms' that allowed the normal rear cargo barrier to be moved forward. The design of the original fitment in the D3 was such that it could be extended with flat (straight) flat bars (straps). It had the same load rating but I think it might not have been as stable and would possible vibrate due to the method of fixing.
The extensions used the original fixing points.

* first ran a bearing (design failure in original engine)
* second had a failure of the water outlet on top of the engine (pls check yours)
