Extended warranties

My D4 comes to the end of its 3 year warranty in the new year. I am wondering what people think about taking out some form of extended warranty? As I understand it, there are LR options but also independent companies that offer some cover. Never had any experience of these sort of things before ...but then my previous cars (not LR) didn't need it. What's the story with d4s?

Maybe I am being spooked by stories of high repair costs and frequency of failures on Discoveries.

Anyone offer advice/suggestions?

Thanks

I've recently taken out a two year warranty with Warranty Direct for just over £1,100. It's their best level of cover, and they always paid up without quibble when I needed to make regular claims with the D3!

Like any insurance, it seems expensive until you need it. I hope I've wasted the money, but at least there's peaceof mind and hopefully no big bills should something go wrong.

Remember, these are complex vehicles.

I got one through warranty direct for mine and got them to shell out for new front arms bushes etc over £900 but be warned that took some fighting as they will only fix something if it's broken and not on its way out money came through quickly though

Its NOT Land Rover Rolling Eyes it just another warranty company that pay LR to use their name, PLUS they don't cover wear & Tear like some other warranty companies do Wink

As DT sez, it's a CarCarePlan policy with a LR badge. Thumbs Up

my thoughts were to continue what you have...they know you,and if your servicing is up to speed that got to stand in your favour when it goes wrong..it may be a private company running it but its landrovers name and reputation,,,and pete is in the background

Swings & roundabouts. "LR" one means you don't pay out if the claim is accepted, but doesn't cover wear & tear which WD does. Some LR dealers don't like dealing with "outside" companies, others have no issues and know how to sort things out with the likes of WD. Depends on priorities s'pose. Thumbs Up

Funnily enough only some of the stamped body panels are made by Land Rover ...all the rest of the vehicle is made up of components from companies across the UK and RoW Wink

Land Rover appoint a company to provide their warranty within the ethos of the brand and IMO it is still the most reassuring warranty Thumbs Up

You lot are a marketing companies dream, easy come easy go Laughing

I for example use warranty direct, my main dealer has a live link system to them, some kind of computer network, all is done direct between the dealer and warranty company, I pay the bill and within a week I get a cheque less £50 excess, how hard is that? All work is carried out by the main dealer using LR parts Thumbs Up

If you want to go and throw your money away for an inferior warranty (as the other doesn't include wear and tear) its up to you, it's your choice Thumbs Up
