D3 cubby fridge
Hi all,
I purchased a cubby fridge and was informed that it was from a 2007 D3. It works fine but stays on all the time. It has a sticker on it with manufacturing date of 2008 (so I know it didn't come from a MY07 D3).
MY08 still makes it a D3 fridge so why is it staying on all of the time? Do I have a fault somewhere? I already had the grey connector in the car so I thought it would just be plug and play.
See pic below for sticker on bottom of fridge

It should also power down when the voltage gets too low.
The difference with the D4 fridge is that it has no voltage monitor and relies on a switched lived so that it turns off with the ignition. If you place a D4 fridge in a D3 and leave it switched on it will happily run until the main battery is flat.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Robbie, I assume you mean the battery voltage. If so this is how I found out that it was staying on all the time. I turned the car on and I got a HDC fault message come up. Noticed that it only happened once I had installed the fridge, left it on and didn't use the car for a couple of days.
I've left the car for a few days before and never had a problem and since I have turned the fridge off I've not had any problems.
So what could it be? Could I have a faulty voltage monitor?Geoff: EGR's blanked, gearbox flushed, allisport hoses, BAS Remap, 3 flash indicator, D4 bluetooth, remote FBH

The D3's apetite for power is well known. Even with the voltage protection I'm not sure I would rely on it to keep my battery ok. The correlation between voltage and true state of charge is somewhat loose, but I guess it did its job and your car started.

So do you reckon it's ok for me to just leave it on all of the time?Geoff: EGR's blanked, gearbox flushed, allisport hoses, BAS Remap, 3 flash indicator, D4 bluetooth, remote FBH

No, I would not be minded to rely on the voltage protection in the fridge.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

thanks, I'll just have to try and remember to switch it off all of the time then......and here's me thinking plug and play would be easy With LR Geoff: EGR's blanked, gearbox flushed, allisport hoses, BAS Remap, 3 flash indicator, D4 bluetooth, remote FBH

You could rewire it to a switched ignition live, as per the D4, but it can be handy to leave the fridge running for brief periods when stopped.
Bottom line is that it is a fridge and it needs power from somewhere, hopefully without leaving you stranded.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I'd prefer that. How do I go about doing this. And how difficult is it?Geoff: EGR's blanked, gearbox flushed, allisport hoses, BAS Remap, 3 flash indicator, D4 bluetooth, remote FBH

Dead easy. Use the current power feed (so it retains its own fuse) and switch it on and off with a relay. To trigger the relay take a tap off the cigar accessory socket in the back of the centre console as this is ignition switched.

Robbie you legend I will give it a go but no doubt I'll be asking you questions! Thank you very much Geoff: EGR's blanked, gearbox flushed, allisport hoses, BAS Remap, 3 flash indicator, D4 bluetooth, remote FBH

I'm thinking of installing the fridge. I thought it would make more sense to power it from the separate battery installed in the second battery box. Any idea in the fridge's power requirement?
