Windscreen Replaced - Rain - Fob Fail |
|
Hi,
The title says it all really.
I had a cracked windscreen replaced and since then when it rains hard the fob doesn't work to unlock the car.
When the weather brightens up the fob works.
Autoglass have checked and said there are no leaks - I think they might he wrong.
Can anyone suggest any particular place around the windscreen or and fusebox or ECU to look at so I can show them the problem.
It's an early 2005 Disco 3 HSE.
Thanks.

When they refitted the external A-Pillar trims, they should have either put new ones on (least likely) or - at the very least - used new clips. The clips have a neoprene washer on them which helps seal the holes in the A-Pillar trim.
Loads of threads on here about it.
There's a possibility water has got into the splice in the wiring loom which runs down each side of the car. A fault in the splice is what causes the fob to stop working.

It could just be a coincidence and the key fob has started to play up. When I first got my D3 it had blocked sunroof drains and damp carpets. Unblocked the drains and fitted the latest A Pillar trim connections and dried everything out. Still had intermittent key fob issues, bit the bullet and replaced with a new one and have had no key fob issues since. Discovery 4 HSE
