Warranty Direct - Deal Done |
|
Having read most of the stuff on here about warranties from Land Rover and Warranty Direct, and studying all the words in the policy documents I have just done the deal with Warranty Direct.
LR manufacturer warranty expires 21 November and current mileage is 19.5K (I know I need to get out more).
I got a price from WD website of £842.11 for 1 year of Luxury Care.
Phoned their 0800 number and had a conversation with their bloke - mostly him yelling and me listening and he offered £860.11
I mentioned the website price and he said he would check with his supervisor (ie. pick his nose for a couple of minutes). He came back on and offered £699. Then he wanted another £35 for ICE/Satnav.
I decided to let him sweat for a couple of days, and today agreed:
3 years Luxury Care, but 37 months for payment in advance
Included: ICE/Satnav, 24k annual mileage (as if), Off Road Use (not competition, racing etc.), Airbags & Emissions, Franchised Labour Rate.
I didn't get removal of excess.
Total cost, in advance, £1900
Other than cost the main differentiator between WD and LR is the inclusion of "wear & tear".
Just hoping I've done the right thing, but only time will tell. MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand

From a post I did at the end of May 2014:
If you are going WD LuxuryCare, confirm:
* "No Betterment" is standard on LuxuryCare (it is, but I like to hear them say it)
* Main Dealer Unlimited Labour Rate (usually they say up to £200 per hour)?
* Cost with "No Excess"?
* 13 months for price of 12 months?
* Turbos included?
And add or confirm over the phone:
* Sat Nav
* Airbag and emissions
* Alarm and immobiliser
* In-car entertainment
* Remove off-road clause
And see if they do a comprehensive breakdown cover (they guy I spoke to couldn't be ar*ed finding out what they could offer).
Prices I was quoted for the above (no breakdown cover) were:
* £842.11 - 1 Year
* £1389.48 - 2 Years
* £1936.85 - 3 Years
I suspect they could be negotiated down a wee bit more.

April 2014 was the end of my 3 year LR warranty, so an April 2011 D4 HSE, I think it had done 26k miles.
Edit: where's my signature gone? All the details are in my profile, but can’t see them here.

During my phone call where I was offered Luxury care at £699, the two year price was £1280, but £35 per year for ICE/Satnav. MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand

Well mine is an 09 GS so no fancy ICE, will be interesting to see what actually gets offered at renewal time as the quote was only a guess as it was longer than 30 days before renewal. Apparently I can't go longer than 2 yrs on Luxury care due to age, but that will do me, at least I can sleep for 2yrs
