Clicking Noises

Hi All

Not sure this is the right place to post this but here goes

When doing over 50mph in my d3 I have a clicking noise coming from the drivers footwell, sounds like a relay clicking on and off behind one of the panels.

Bugs me big time while driving, is this normal or has anyone else had the same problem Question

Tks

Matt

It just could be the A pillar trim, the one outside the vehicle. Its held on with plastic push-fit clips, on mine I traced an annoying squeek/tapping noise on the motorway to the trim. If you push on it, it may move an make the noise you are reporting.

New fasteners cured it. Don't re-use the old ones if you remove it, or the trim is likely to fall off at speed.

happened to mine as well.
with mine it was the door check strap. the captive nuts inside the pillar were loose. this bugged me for ages but it eventually got that bad the check strap was moving and taking the paint off. two days in the dealer sorted it

Bit of a ressurection, but was there ever a resolution to this? I get a random clicking from the drivers footwell at speed. Nothng when the car is stationary. Sounds like a relay clicking to me.

Is it a plastic clicking or metal clicking, or electrical sounding? I've been searching for the cause of noise coming up the steering column for ages and still have got nowhere, but did find the heating duct that goes into the drivers footwell touches the front panel, and the two plastic surfaces touching each other were clicking when flexed.

It sounds to me like a relay clicking randomly. There's nothing when idling, and you can hear it at speed. It could be something to do with the heater ducting moving around as there may be some ram air effect at speed, but it has more of an electrical sound to it. I'll have to get my son to stick his head down there when we are moving (just joking officer).
