Broken down can't start can't get the key out

Car won't start even with a jump start can't get the key out unless I disconect the battery tried a hard reset still won't start any help
No fault codes showing

Sounds like it doesn't realise its in Park, won't start unless it is, nor can you remove the key Thumbs Up

Remove the centre trim panel and check the connection in to the back of the gear level mechanism is in tight, otherwise it sound like a dodgy position sensor switch

Cheers gave it a wack so to speak got started and it was stiff to get it into drive got it home and put it in park now it won't move out of park but at least I can get the key out just can't move the selector

Sounds like the selector linkage on the side of the box wants a liberal soaking in WD40

Check the gear linkage under the car to the gear box it sounds like its seized up.

If I remember rightly you don't even have to remove the gearbox undertray to get access - just remove a couple of bolts on the driver's side and you can flex it down enough to get an aerosol in there. As Steve says a good dose of WD40 or spray grease should help free things up. Otherwise the thread Hairy Dan links to has a full replacement how to.

Gear linkage is stuck solid gave it a good soaking of super maninance spay and freed it will get a new one cheers guys

Here are the parts that you could need. For the sake of a couple of £'s I replaced them all, but the arm could have been reused. I ordered from Brad at Yeovil Land Rover 01935 426600 Discout applied and delivered next day.
 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.
