Mice ate my washer pipes
I went to the British Ploughing championships a few weekends ago. It rained very hard on the Saturday night and the Sunday night. The field was a bit of a pond anyway. I forgot to say I had a caravan. On the Monday morning I took off the front towing eye cover just in case. Switched to the "Mud and ruts setting" and off I went. Gave it some stick and got out of the field. The only one to do so without assistance. Caravan covered with mud due to the wheel spin. Anyway driving up to Cambridge I noticed that the wind screen washers were not working. I thought that a pipe had come off or something was blocked. Today I stripped out the Plastic near side wheel arch so that I could get at the resevoir and the pipe work. At first I thought that the pipes had melted- they go behind the FBH manifold, but on a closer look found that a mouse had knawed his way through the pipes. I need to get some new pipe and joiners. I phoned landrover and they said that the mice do chew them sometimes.

Might be a good time to check out your fuel tank pipes as well then

Yes, mice are attracted to cars because of heat and smell. You'd be surprised, but even a vanilla air freshener is capable of attracting mice to your car
What you should do? If you do want to avoid constant and quite costly repairs, of course.
Make sure to pop the hood often to check out for any signs for an infestation. Also - and this is kind of obvious - clean all food from the inside regularly.

A smart trick (which I haven't tried personally but have heard it works) is placing mothballs inside the engine compartment. It's supposed to keep rodents away, and I've heard about people even adding coyote urine to the mix, haha But I personally think that peppermint should do the trick.
