Retro fitting a reversing camera |
|
Loooking for some help and advice.
i have a 2007 SE with factory sat nav etc. I am lloking to add a reversing camera to help whilst hooking up the tin tent. Can someone tell me if the standard camera allows a view of the tow hitch or do i need to think about the trailair camera set up?
thanks

Using the one I got off ebay, the tow hitch doesn't show. By just a little bit though. Dennis

Just search for 'discovery 3 reversing' on ebay.co.uk and you'll find the camera in the first link.
You will need a GVIF interface Pete linked to if you want to connect the camera to the the factory sat nav screen. Dennis

You don't have to have a gvif module (but obviously better) if you only want to use the camera for hooking the trailer up, or for any other purpose for that matter, just use the diagnostic code on the screen, takes a few seconds as aposed to being automatic but it does work.
I used a cheap Import camera and the Fakra cable from the site shop works brilliant - cost £25 altogether.
Although you can't see the actual towbar you can see the trailer A frame and jockey wheel well enough to get within 2" of the tow ball with very little practice. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

There are now a couple of demonstration videos on the Trailair by Land Rover website. These show views from the camera while hitching.

I'd like to fit CCTV type cameras to the back and front of my ancient, but much loved, Disco 1
[300 = 'R']
Presently don't have a sat nav fitted.
Advice please:
* V G all weather Cams
* Thru' Sat Nav screen or separate system?
* Must be DIY
Reference / links to existing threads on this MOST welcome - have tried the Search function !
Kindest regards
