Well I haven't got used to it. I think it's a PITA. I only ever remember to switch it off the first time I'm coming to a stop and it's not easy to find the switch when you're looking where you're going.
I've even had it stop when I'm stopped before going into reverse.
Only good thing about it for me is the lower tax. I'd love to disable it or have the switch to turn it on rather than off.Velar MY18 D180 S Narvik

I hated the thought of stop/start, but its actually quite good, and you can control/stop the car "stopping" through use of the brake pedal
Is there not a button on the dash on the D4 to switch it off?
Got that on the FL2 and great for stop/start traffic.
How do you control it through the brake pedal?...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

There is a button but the light on the dash redefines overkill.
The D4 uses a brake contact switch and brake pressure.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I was walking in town the other day, and a BMW 318d in the road next to me stopped and started 3 times in as many yards Imagine the almost continuous wear on starter, and starter ring gear, let alone strain on the battery. OK, I'll admit to being mechanically sympathetic for now but can't see this saving any owner any money long term.

Is there no way to turn OFF the orange warning light on the dash.
Bit of black tape or black marker pen might be required as bright at night !

On the MY2015 there is actually a second battery fitted for the stop/start so it looks like they have put a little bit of thought into it Cheers Ian

There's a smaller secondary battery fitted on the 2014 models as well.
Is the one on the 2015 model any different.People tell me my car at 3L is not good for the environment but the other 6 engines I look after are 78L and nobody complains about them.

I've got it... A bit love hate at the moment.
I've got quite used to it now though... As I come up to a junction I kind of slow down earlier so I don't have to stop fully,
It is also GREAT fro drive throughs... Order - engine stops, Pay - engine stops, Collect - engine stops. I often find in diesels I was stopping the engine so the 'operator' could hear my order! Not that I'm a regular or owt.
Yesterday however even after a 40 mile/1 hour drive whilst ordering my breakfast it didn't stop once. I had the climate control off and anything else I thought could affect it off, I noticed on here that a TSB is out for them so rang LRA who sent out a chap and couldn't find any codes and naturally it worked fine for him. He did however test my main battery which was down to 750amps on a 850 amp battery which I'm not so convinced by... less than 3 weeks old and I had driven it 3 hours in told yesterday.
He did say the little battery powers the electronics while the engine is off which makes sense
See how it goes.26 and on the 4th LR..
