Any experience of the 'Land Rover Electric Cool Bag'?

Been looking to put part number VUP100140L on my Xmas list. Want a quality cool bag for the car, useful for family days out and the like.

http://accessories.landrover.com/gb/en/dis...-cool-bag/

Has anyone got one, or any experience of this particular LR one?

Or do you know of a better product available with similar specs, but non-LR?

Advise appreciated, a always!

I have one which is now 4/5 years old. It has become incredibly noisy over the last year, so much so that we don't use it in the car. It's capacity is very small compared to its external size. Made by Waeco. I did enquire about buying a replacement motor from Waeco but this was too expensive.
The same bag is available from BMW, exactly the same but with a bmw badge instead of a land rover one.
Personally I do not consider it worth the money & would look elsewhere.
If you want I will measure the internal capacity to give an idea of it's size.
hope this helps
regards

if you look at that as almost half the cost of a proper fridge with a compressor then it's not very good value.

I'd either go cheap and get an electric cool box from somewhere like go outdoors for around £40 knowing that they're noisy, flatten batteries in no time and cool stuff rather than really chilling it, or get a proper fridge. I think a few folk on here have the terra firma ones that MPS-trading do for £479.

I was treated to an ARB one a few years ago and it's the best Christmas present ever, not just for days out and camping trips but it's been an extra drinks fridge at Christmas and been stocked with ice-cream in the summer!

You didn't buy a Disco or come on this forum to help your savings, did you? Wink

I have this one
Dometic 9105302124 Bordbar, 12 V https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001BWR7VG/ref...owb8J3TM7V

Which I think, looking form the picture, is exactly the same as the LR one without the LR logo. But considerably cheaper at only £105. It's pretty good but I would say that it keeps cold things cool. It's cannot really chil items that are already hot if you get what I mean.

If you want to speculate I actually have the Land Rover one that I bought second hand last year.... I've personally never used it and we now have a built in fridge in our new lorry thus will probably not use it....
Yours for £100 plus postage if you want to PM me.... Very Happy

Thanks for all of the feedback guys.

pko - it would be really useful to know the interior dimensions, thank you!

MiniNick - that does look like exactly the same one LR sell, for 50% of the price. If the size is right, then for occasional use only, I feel much more comfortable asking my parents to put that at the top of my Xmas list!

FarmerChalk - thank you for the offer, but for what looks like a brand new one for the same money, albeit without the LR logo, I think I might plump for that.

Must have missed the thread about people putting proper fridges in their Discos... Sounds way too complicated for me, I'm afraid, though very cool! (pardon the pun)

hi 747 the measurements in inches are ext. 15inches x9 x 15 deep & internal are top 10inches x 6 x 13 inches deep. Hope this helps. Looking at the one on amazon which mininick mentions it does look identical.

I have a non-LR branded one I bought secondhand for £50...

You can just about hear it, but its easily drowned out by the radio on minimal setting.

I find it really good. For a short trip, with an ice pack, I don't even plug it in. It seems to work better than any passive 'box' I've had previously.

For a longer day, without any pre-cooling, it kept the ice pack frozen for more than 9 hours on a pretty warm day.

One of my better buys at £50, but to be honest, I suspect you can do better for £200.
