iOS 8.0 Upload Failure
Hi all (well - iOS 8.0 users),
There is a bug in Safari in iOS 8.0 which means that you cannot use any file uploader - either the one when posting a message or the gallery one when using iOS 8.0 on iPad or iPhone.
Quote:
[Apple] users have noticed that after upgrading to iOS 8.0 they cannot upload files from Safari. The new iOS version has a bug that renders sending files by browsers impossible. When you choose a file in a form on HTML page and try to submit it, no file is sent in the request. The browser indicates that it's waiting for a response, but in fact the response never comes.
This is not a site issue, there is nothing I can do to fix this, Apple will have to fix this and get an update out - hopefully ASAP.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Peeps on t'other site (the one that liked clubbin) have found the same. Didn't notice myself as my unofficial way of doing things works.

I wondered why I couldn't post up pictures whilst at the LRO show during the weekend.
It'd get to 1% and hang.
Was on my list to mail you about it but I shan't bother now MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

Chrome in iOS 8? They are separate browsers, so this suggests a problem with iOS and its file selection system rather than Safari itself.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Will check on it, but I did hear Chrome is built on Safari within ios.Justin
All Browsers Must Use Safari’s Rendering Engine
Apple’s App Store policies state: “Apps that browse the web must use the iOS WebKit framework and WebKit Javascript.â€
This means that web browsers can’t implement their own rendering engines; they must embed a version of Safari’s rendering engine. They can’t offer a faster rendering engine or new web features. In effect, each third-party browser on iOS is a different interface around Safari.

They use the same layout engine (Webkit) but I think they are separate apps - Google is no friend of Apple 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Although separate Apps, Google have no choice if they want to be included in the App Store - In effect, all third-party browsers aren’t just different versions of Safari — they’re all basically just slower versions of Safari.Justin
