Off Road Cover

I have been thinking of phoning my insurance company (NFU) to add "Off Road Cover" for the Rockingham adventure, but having read various comments here I wonder what additional cover this would give, as it does not seem that this event would be covered.

There is some talk about Green Lane cover, but as these are public highways they would come under the normal cover, in the event of an accident.

So my question is -- What does Off Road cover provide and what would one expect to pay extra for this?

I'm with NFU and they explained that provided you are not competing in a time trial or race event, then you are covered.

I believe that the NFU give you off road cover as standard so you should already have the cover. At least they did when I was insured with them.

It should cover you anywhere off-road providing that you are not competing in event such as time trials, hill climbs ISTR. Wink Always check with your insurer.

I have read my NFU policy too.

I don't find anything that mentions 'off-road' cover. What I find is the mention of Teritorial Limits, but no mention of public highway -- so my thought is that I am covered as long as it's not (amoungst others) being used for rallies and racing.

But...

I spoke to my local NFU a number of times re this and each time they checked and called me back to say it was OK as long as its not for :

Hire
Time trials
Rallying

Was told, they know what LR owners use their LR for... so cover for this use.

They are in fact 500 yds from Shukers and are the insurance company Shukers recommend. Thats why I popped in to see them and had a quote that was way below any other I'd had previously.

Oh... and they work all the way up to 12:00 Xmas Eve, especially so I could get my cover note done (twice due to reg number mistake), and all with a glass of sherry and a mince pie Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

No computer based phone system, no call centre, just people who remember your name when you call them up.

For these last two reasons I will use them again and again.

Its a people thing Thumbs Up
