Left sunroof open, it rained and now all sorts of problems

Hi there,

I stupidly left the sunroof open overnight, it rained and I have had problems since. Since the incident, the central locking has been working/not working, it thinks the key is in the ignition when its not, the windscreen wipers come on by themselves.

The biggest problem is that the battery keeps dying overnight because the electrics are 'on'.

We currently have a dehumidifier in the car, although there wasn't much water let in. We are wondering if we should disconnect the battery overnight so that it doesn't die. Do you think there would be sub sequential problems by disconnecting the battery? The car is not asleep properly as it thinks the electrics are working - the parking light is on as is the display panel of the radio.

Advice would be much appreciated x

Thanks, I did see that thread, I've been following advise but not sure how to proceed without needing to charge the battery everyday?!!

If you follow the advice why would you need to charge the battery everyday?

Disconnect the battery, mop any residual water, open some trim and install a dehumidifier and ideally a fan.

Time and patience are your friends.
