Connect CTEK fly lead to battery
I'm sure this has been covered, but I can't find it.
When I connect my CTEK permanent lead to the battery, do I need to connect to both battery terminals, or the positive and a a good earth on the car?
Reason I ask, is that I can't seem to get the retaining bolt off the negative battery terminal to fit the ring on the CTEK lead behind.

The positive on mine is connected to the battery terminal and the negative is connected to an earth bolt just in front of the the battery box.

Doesn't really matter so long as you get a good connection, the battery to body earth is good for a few hundred amps so a few amps charging current is no problem.
For what its worth, I normally connect my small Ctek via the towing socket at the back which is fairly remote from the battery but still works well.Clive

Clearly be careful with the Ctek fly lead as I have seen them abrade and short when left to float around the engine bay.

Don't bother just plug into the towing electrics, I believe plugs are available from the site shop It can when others can't,

I use the tow electrics too but not all vehicles have them fitted and some owners find it inconvenient due to parking or garage constraints. As a result some fit a charging point to the front or side of the vehicle.

Thanks for all the replies! I've connected it up under the bonnet for now, but will look at the tow electrics for the future as that would be a much neater option

The tow electrics adaptors are here in the site shop
