Foot brake fail
Hi people ,I had brake failure when a car came over in to my lane when passing cars, braked to avoid hitting the car brake peddle went rock hard at the top of its travel having had to use the handbrake to stop , now peddle is still rock hard with no brakes ,very very close shave ,
my disco got the recall vacuum pipes replaced in November 2010,when I got home I dipped the brake servo with a tiewrap and got a slight trace of oil right at the bottom and oil residue on the end of the vacuum pipes.
my question is do you think I might get this repaired through the recall as this was known as a problem to landrover providing this is the problem just asking before I call the local dealer were the recall was done?

This needs to go back to Land Rover for them to try again.
Others on here have had the same problem recently and they have had some assistance from Pete@LandRover to get their dealer to address the issue properly.
If you don't get anywhere talking to your dealer about it, you need to PM Pete.

I've had this problem on my V8 (which has another vacuum pump) and it looks like the dealer addressed this by replacing the power steering pump, but I will only know this works when the problem does not return... and it only occurred very rarely.
So this 'proper' addressing... does this concern the tdv6 only?
