Scraping noise from rear
First post, and first LR3. Picked up a one owner, 2006 model yesterday with 82,000 miles. Making a grinding sound from the left rear, but could be anywhere in the rear. Maintains a constant pitch and volume no matter what speed I'm driving. Most noticeable when coasting to a stop since the engine noise is no longer a factor.
Checked rear diff fluid -clear and honey colored. Jacked up the vehicle and tugged on each wheel -they feel solid. When driving, I notice an occasional "clunk" in the drivetrain when coming to a complete stop.
Decided to drive it home (about 800 miles!), but checked the rear diff fluid in route -still good. Noise might be a little louder after the long haul, but hard to tell. Maybe I'm getting used to it.
Ready to tear into this issue, but where to start? Thanks in advance for any advice.Current Vehicles:

2002 Discovery Series II
2006 LR3 SE

I had a scraping noise from the rear on my 2006 with 111k miles.
Inspected rear parking brake assemblies, rear pads and rotors and rear wheel bearings. In the end it was the rear differential. After it was replaced the sound went away.
Good luck with your troubleshooting effort.ikonw8
