Rear reverse warning bleepers |
|
Good evening all.
The reversing bleepers on my D3 have stopped working. The orange light on the 'P' button next to the 'DSC' switch on the centre console flashes as I reverse up towards an object, but the bleepers don't make a sound. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks - Derry

Hello Derry.
Most likely that that one or more of the sensors have given up.
Put the car in reverse, with ignition on, and hunker down close to the sensors.
You should, if the sensor works, hear a faint clicking sound from it, if not,
the sensor is most likely dead.
They are quite easy to exchange, the outer ones You can acess from under the bumper,
the ones in the middle is a bumper off job.
We did it on brothers car earlier this week, took about two hours, but then we cleaned
the bumper inside, chatted with a passer-by and so on.

Thanks Uffe.
Dropped into my local LR independent yesterday, they checked it out on the diagnostics which highlighted a faulty sounder; £14 plus half hours labour and all sorted for a little over £50.
Everything has been working fine since faulty sounder was replaced (see above). However, since last week when we had a couple of sever frosts the bleepers are constantly on when I engage reverse gear, regardless of whether the car is close to any objects or not. Any suggestions or ideas of what to look at before I revert to the local indi (Mansfield 4x4). Thanks.
