Yes the dealer who sold me the faulty V8 refunded me the purchase price. I was out of pocket on the fuel I'd put in it though.
Still it's done and I have a D3. I'm now looking into retro fitting some bits it's missing because of the lower spec.
The "To Do" list so far is:
Fit cruise control switch to the steering wheel.
Fit stereo controls to the steering wheel. I'm not sure if the basic stereo can be controlled by the wheel switch though.
Fit rear PDC. I'll go for an after market kit on that.
Fit N12 trailer socket (ordered)
Obtain a removable tow hook (if I can get one at a sensible price)
Fit a sub woofer and amp to the existing stereo system and install some extra speakers in the boot area.
Otherwise it's got everything I need.
Although the wife wants side rails and some 20" wheels for it.
The larger wheels would allow me to fit the V8 brakes which would be a good idea to.

I will do my own spanner work so that will offset some of the cost.
Not least, it gives extra peace of mind when you go for your MOT.
My number one mod for that would be front fogs.
I wouldn't bother with 20" wheels. Go for 19.
I also find the sidesteps make it harder, if anything, to get in and out.Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC
