Does anyone do the silicone hose in boring black, or does it have to be boy racer blue, green or red only.
Derry
Nowt wrong with coloured hoses.

First one lasted 105K miles so I look forward to seeing the new one fail at 210K miles

And mine lasted 110 before splitting!
Are there any noticeable performance improvements anyone has noticed from standard hoses to silicon ones or is it just longivity?Current: D3 TDV6 S; GGAT's, DIY 7inch Tablet mount, DIY Reversing Camera, Stage 1 remap, EGR delete

Might set up a poll to get more people's experiences since we don't seem to have had one.

Haven't posted here for a long time but seeing this thought I could report that I recently had the turbo hose replaced, 2006 D3 with 250000 kms/150000 miles. Cost me €266 (+VAT/Mwst) at LR dealer here in Austria.
Although I see now that I seem to have had a good mileage from the original hose, at the time I put the trouble down to the fact that the hose had been removed and built in again (I assume) when the EGR valves were replaced a couple of months before. I felt that it probably hadn't been up to surviving all that shoving about.
To change all three hoses allow yourself 3 hours if you have not done them before, the smaller one is fiddly but you just need some patience, and a good flexible hose driver.

Has anyone fitted the terra-firma black silicone hoses.
Mine are Terra-Firma (but blue). They seem good to me.
I would have gone with BAS or Allisport but I bought them with my intercooler from Brookwells.
Unless you buy cheap rubbish, it's hard to go wrong with silicone hoses.Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

I also have the same problem and I am goning to replace my hose next week. Can this cracked hose be the main reason for the black smoke from the exhaust or do I need to expect bigger problems such as turbo failure or such...
Thanks

Be careful when removing the top jubilee clip, don't do what I done and drop it into the radiator cowling. Other than that it's a straightforward job replacing the 2 larger hoses, allow yourself 1.5 hours and if possible, get someone to hold the inner wing plastic panel up and to one side when doing the passenger side (right hand drive), for some reason LR decided to put the hex/screw on the jubilee clip at the turbo end on the top of the hose making it a real so and so to get undone. I used a quarter drive ratchet and 7mm socket. I have added some photos on the gallery. incidentally there was a 4inch split on the big hose, right at the top (see photos). I refitted the 2 corrugated sleeves on the bigger hose, not sure if I needed too, but, thought they must be there for a reason so better to refit them. I will tackle the small hose when I'm able to set aside a full day.

Highly likely.
Good to hear you've got it sorted Derry.
Jobster, I wouldn't bother paying the dealers if I were you; find a good independant LR garage. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

LfW: I know, but don't have the time for it this week nor to do it myself. So, brought it to the dealer this morning, was offered to wait for it and coffee. Left it, collected end of day, GBP 90 all in (which includes by the way a full cleaning out- and (!) inside). Not so bad me thinksRLD Sump Guard
