Hay! I just got that started. Was thinking sliding caliper not sliding. See what others come up with before taking wheel off.

OK...HELP !

First spotted by SWMBO'd...
& said it was:
1) juddering whilst decelerating - not every time...yes it does sort of a wobble then goes away
2) also a bit on accelerating at same speed-ish
....also another noise noted
3) if transmission put into D or R (rom N) there is a whirring sound for a few moments which dies way - almost like a loose tin lid or a worn or noisy belt sound.....

Out of gear the engine sounds OK if revved - no wrong or nasty noises...or warning lights
& car behaves OK at higher speeds..
- selects gears on auto & manual select

I've tried the low range box a bit....didn't hear the same sound but got a bong whilst decelerating up to a traffic light & got a TRANSMISSION FAULT warning on written display.

Never had any noise or wobble before like this....any ideas guys ?
 BREXIT - done properly.

Changed out the brake pads and as they were well worn and thought that might have been the cause. No - still there but nowhere near as bad. Calipers slide as they should, no loosness in hub that I can detect, all looks as it should be. So folks, and ideas please!!

Have either/both of you watch the revs as and when this happens? is it during a gearchange as it takes up/releases drive?

IE - is it the torque converter as in (dis)engages?

Manual And it is only on the off-side (at present). Long run tomorrow to give it chance to go away or get worse.

Sorry so busy pursuing...

DISPTICKS...got carried away
the fault on my 93k mile disco has been identified as a fault in the gearbox
a - a shudder when decelerating & accelerating
b - a noise when either d or r engaged like a paint tin lid loose somewhere then dies way
c - a harsh down change from 4th to 3rd

...its been checked out (by people I trust) & the decision was that a flush & additive wouldn't alter this...so box being taken off for strip-down & repair...I feel a lot gutted as my D3 has up to this been mega good & think that the service schedule should swap out the aft at 40k or 50k as a preventative measure...you learn the hard way sometimes.
ZF gearboxes are reputed to be the better ones...compared to BorgWarner & NVG....but having one fault & fail on a BM & a similar one fail on a D2 (just hours old) convinces me otherwise...this maybe not the fault of the box but a belligerent attitude to service schedules
BorgWarner boxes have taken me hundreds of thousands of miles without issue

Maybe there ought to be another emoticon the PermaGRIMACE non there sum up my feelings

& auto boxes ought to have DIPSTICKS (like back into last century)
 BREXIT - done properly.

I'd be interested to hear who they use for the box repair. I had a badly failed one on my previous car fixed by Steve Brears in Leeds a few years ago. He was quick, cheap and the car did about 100,000 more miles without further trouble.
