Slow High Beam Assist

I think my high beam assist is getting lazy.
At night when traffic approaches it dips almost immediately, but then takes quite a few seconds to revert to full beam, whereas previously it would revert almost straight away. Works fine if I use manual dipping/full beam.

Any thoughts on what may cause this, or should I take it into a garage and get them to sort it.

I think you have to be doing a certain minimum speed for the High beam assist to work properly. I think ithe speed is supposed to be about 30 mph, but on my car it needs to be about 60 mph. Does any one know if the operating speed is variable?

Certainly less than 60mph on mine, very unlikely to reach those speeds on devon roads (A38 excepted ).

40 - 50 seems more likely.

I don't like the system personally. I find it dazzles too many drivers.

I guess it's Marmite then cos I like it - until recently.
Can't be arsed to take it in right now so I'll wait till November when it's 3 year service is due and mention it, along with the squeaky windscreen wiper motor and anything else I can think of - before the warranty expires.

Clean with a soft tissue the the sensor under the center mirror, mine was lazy too and now runs better, much faster and reactive.

Partly related to this thread! I've got a 62 reg H.S.E., with A.F.S. Can someone tell me what the 3 little sensors on the lower L.H.S. Of the rear view mirror are for?
I assume one of them is for the Headlight Assist, but what are the other 2 for?
Thanks in advance.

I think the others are for auto wipers and auto switching headlamps on Thumbs Up

A bit of an update that could explain my problem.
Just reminding myself how to adjust the headlights for continental driving and I noticed that I had not switched back to driving on the left in the service menu Embarassed
