It does say you only get the firmware upgrades for a year from registration. I've emailed to see if this it true and how much an upgrade would be....2006 TDV6 HSE Wrapped Matt Black STOLEN NOT RECOVERED

talk about instant response from Patrick...
"Updates are still free of charge for the moment. Since you have a regular non Bluetooth IIDTool, you will be able to update to V3.0 once we have released it to the general public in a few days.
Best Regardds"

Well, after updating my IIDTool last night to V3.00.00 Build 1245 - and an early morning flash - I now have a clock on the central dash display (where it should have been all along, Land Rover ) and no FBH light when the headlights are on.
Outstanding work, GAP.
It was a very quick update; roughly 1 minute 10 seconds as others have already said.
I've not explored if the IPC update gives you anything else, apart from a slightly different external temperature display.

I have a feeling this may be new, also:

I was reversing up my drive and I let the D3 roll down a little so I could straighten up. When the D3 detected it was moving forwards - rather than backwards - it helpfully told me how to apply the EPB.

I've only ever seen that when I've had the drivers door open. Not sure whether that was in drive or not though Mark.

What I would quite like is the ability to customise the dash altogether.
A range of values or things to display, the ability to select the font size and where to place them.
Different info on the i Button as well would be great - I'd love MPG and Range on the same screen but with smaller fonts.
That would be fantastic, but I suspect almost impossible.
Regards,
Stephen

We are very close to releasing it. You could try the beta, it is very stable! Which functions are you interested in?

So the economic reality is that it would not be worth doing.
I've a background as a coder (But not low level) , if you are comfortable with giving me some details (I'll sign an NDC if needed) I might be able to do this for you.

How does one get the beta v3.0 version? I'm looking for the Bluetooth firmware update for my IIDTool.
Thanks!

But the hobbyist reality says otherwise.
Because I know you guys are up to the challenge, I dare you (like in the Ice Bucket Challenge) to do something about improving IPC's amount of information. It will benefit, in my opinion, the entire community and improve the knowledge about the cars, ECUs, etc.
I've done it on my FL2 where now my on-board computer has the following items (selectable by "i" button):
1. Trip
2. Range
3. Average consumption
4. Instant consumption
5. Average speed
6. Instant speed
7. Battery voltage
And although not as onboard computer items, but improvements (in my point of view),
8. Gearbox's selected speed display on Drive and Sport also (D1,D2,..., S1,S2,...)
9. Temperature gauge correction (linearization) for exact temperature readout.
