Disco 4 Heated Front Windscreen

Hi chaps, as I'm quite new to the Disco scene, I thought I would enjoy this frosty morn and put on the front heated windscreen. It was great, apart from it only cleared the drivers side.

Reading around suggests that there is only one fuse for the heated windscreen so it leans towards a duff element on that side of the screen.

Thought I would check here before I invoked the warranty...!

Thanks

No I am sure there are two fuses for the front screen, one for each side. Fuses 15 and 18 engine compartment for a 2010 D4 according to the manual.

ok, my manual states 15 for heated front windscreen and 18 for front washer jets.

Seems I might have to look further...

both fuses look OK.

I'll have to have a look at the connections at the bottom of the screen and see what's what. FML!

On a D4 (mine anyway) there are some small cube like boxes nothing like a fuse but they are the protection for the screen, one went on mine a while back. Do a search for D4 heated screen issues under my name and you will find the information

Ahh cool. My fuse layout mirrors yours almost exactly in that 15 for me is boot opener (although there is a fuse there) and 18 is power headlamp.

Can you not remotely open your boot with the key then?

I'll check the smaller cube fuses, but guess you can't tell just by looking at them. I could swap them over I suppose and see what side melts in the morning...haha

Yep, nailed it. Nothing like 15 or 18, the manual is basically complete garbage as far as that is concerned.

It was number 6 of the fused links (capsule fuse) so I swapped with number 8 which appeared to be the electronic handbrake. Guess what, both sides heat up now, and the handbrake didn't work (stuck on) and also the car reported that it was completely empty of fuel..lol

So I swapped back the fuse, and have got a replacement sorted.

In short, 2012, possibly earlier models and later, heated windscreen is looked after by capsule fuse 2 and 6 in the engine bay fuse compartment.

The correct fuse type is called a JCASE low profile fuse
