MY14 perm live

Finally got round to refitting blackvue.

Problem with supply as it seems on my14 the spare 28 & 29 slots don't have the gubbins to accept a fuse!?

Just a blank slot.

Any other perm live fuse I can use? I have the piggy back fuse connector so can use in use fuse if needs be.

Weird CJB.

I don't have a MY14 wiring diagram but if you leave everything alone long enough for the car to sleep, connect the neg lead of a DMM to a good ground and then run the pos lead down the test contacts on the fuses you will find all the perm live fuses very quickly.

Fuse test contacts (albeit doing a voltage drop test in this case):

Sounds plausible for the passenger seat to stay live even when asleep as I think the switching is done at the passenger seat itself with no other electronics. The driver's seat will go via a memory module connected to the vehicle bus. It must be a pretty high amperage circuit (30 amps?).

If anyone has the 2014/15 wiring diagrams I would welcome them.

On my MY2015 I had the same problem, I think I used the fuse for the towing electrics although I would have to have another look to confirm

Thanks for the update Dave.

Did you confirm the amperage of the seat fuse in the MY15?

(I've yet to see a piggyback fuse block rated higher than 20 amps and most are 10 amps.)

F41 is live

I use that to power the blackvue with a piggyback fuse

Thanks Duncan, F41 looks to be down at 5 amps too.

This would seem a better option - no fun melting or setting fire to your CJB.

robbie

never realised the piggy back wasn't rated too high, thought it was the fuse inside it that determined Shocked

think seats are 30 or something but funnily enough as i didn't know which fuse to substitute in the pigy back i left both at 5 thinking seats will blow fuse so i'll know which to swap. still fine so seats mustn't draw too much when used individually.

looks like i'll play it safe and swap for 41

Piggybacks are a bit odd in the fact that the correct fuse location is not marked. I can never remember which is which so have to check with a multimeter each and every time.
