As per my previous post - Heine and me visited LR Sandton last Thursday. They (Riaan the spares manager and John DP) are quite happy to supply holiday kit for D3 - they need a couple of day notice though. Based on my experience of waiting 10 working days for a new fuel filter I will suggest two weeks in advance. They can also supply second spare wheel for specific D3 model.
I am going to put them to the test for my trip to Moz end of September.

What do we want in the kit .
Oil Filter
Fuel filter
Air filter
Hoses (which)
Oil
What else . Though I suspect anything more will not be doable in the bush
Also are there any special tools we need to change any of the above

Hoses - cooling system + turbo hose
Belt/s - I saw a thread discussing the fact that one can actualy replace the main serpent belt without special tools
Bulb kit - do not know how important this is, although I recall that the bulbkit for Defender was VERY expensive - so in case of accidental breakage it could be a hassle - D3 bulbs probably even more expensive.

Hi Guys,
All the Landies I owned in SA that had warranty's were fixed by LR. My last Defender had all accessories fitted through Karl, and never had a days problem with any claim. They did query my replacement grill, but still replaced my radiator, when needed.
I honestly believe that the dealers are the people driving any claims, and I have retained a good relationships with my servicing dealer. At the time it was Bedfordview. Now it is Barbagallo's in Perth. Same , same company.
Bottomline is you can fit anything, and should still be under warranty.
I think you guys have a noble cause, but LRSA would really not give a sh!t about your petition. Why is the fear of long words called hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia?

Got my fuel, oil and air filters for my Botswana trip in 10 days time. The oil and air are easy fits, the fuel is more involved, you must follow the colour coding precisely. You need a number 32 spanner to acces the oil filter, but the other two are more common sizes. Checked with the stealers about hoses, but they said it was very rare for one to fail on the D3. Did not bother about the belts after I saw 10FC's post on the complexity of the system.
There seems to be some disagreement about towing the vehicle. Does anyone know if it's okay to tow for long distances (I'm assuming that I'll be in neutral) or will that stuff up something down below?

Please confirm which year model vehicle you have re: fuel filter
On the towing issue I believe any auto box will be damaged if you tow long distance at high speeds. Maybe disconnecting drive shafts ???

Deon,
Mine is an 06. LR double-checked this before giving me the fuel filter, they were aware of the change in shape/size.
