I was speaking to my indie as he done mine the other day and he showed me the topix print off and it does state the oil level should be checked when temp is between 30 to 50c which he waits till its at that

Interesting that Typhoon servicing intervals have gone from 400 hours to 500 hours with no major issues.
I'm 10,000 miles down the line from my flush at lrrepairservices and so far no issues.
As an engineer in the aerospace industry for over 30 years and someone who has worked on cars/bikes lrrepairservces where happy for me to crawl under the ramp with them watching everything they did.
Perhaps somethings aren't super critical - what's better, changing the fluid with the level a bit down or not changing it at all ...I know where my money would go.
Just a thought.

I have to agree the gearbox oil will need changing as I have done over 100k . If this is the only place I can get this done I will give them a call & see what they have to say regarding the oil temp & level.
Thanks everyone for all the information on this

What is the consensus of opinion as to when you should have a gearbox flush?
I've just had my 9th annual service (an A service), but she's only done 79k miles. According to LR maintenance schedule it should be the 10th anniversary or 150k miles (which will be a B service)
Opinions from those in the know please
Just in case it matters I'm 2.7 tdv6.

Thanks for the positive feed back from the customers. All customers now will be asked to watch the level check procedure and look at live data on Autologic Diagnostics 30-50 degrees as stated on Topix.
The thing is, i guarantee every time the level is checked afterwords you will have a slight level indifference of be it 10-100 mls due to temperature change. Even within Land Rover level check specification 30-50 degrees. The Autobox has a dry fill capacity of 9500mls of ZF6HP SPEC OIL. All this scare mongering is not required and I would be quite happy to have a chat with anyone about the work that is carried out as opposed to have my business bad mouthed on a public forum.
I started my business from a £2000 loan off my parents which I paid back and me and my father built my first workshop from the ground up on an evening and weekends whilst still working full time. I moved to a larger workshop on my own 4 years ago and I now have 3 ex-dealer technicians and 2 full time parts staff and myself. None of this has come from ripping people off, just hard work and honesty.
Most days you would think we were a dealer looking in our car park at cars waiting to be repaired and serviced. We are just a family run independent specialist. I have invested massively into the business from having nothing.
I don't post on here as often as I should and there is one simple reason for this, i am just too busy. So I miss a lot of posts about my business.

Performing the level check at the correct temp is a sensible response indeed.
By my maths filling at 80 deg C would leave you under-filled by 270ml when compared to 40 deg C; this would be well outside ZF's 130ml tolerance band. Doing it by-the-book seems very wise.
