The air suspension system is pressurised up to 16.8 bar (244 lbf/in²).

But that doesn't mean that is the maximum operating pressure of the reservoir.

Now about 205 psig

Back when the 3 was designed, the compressor max shutoff pressure was as above, 244 psig.

Then in April 2010, a fix was announced that reduced the shutoff pressure to about 205 psig or 14 bar.

As such, that is about the max pressure you would see in the air tank now and I doubt the tank is good for much more than that particularly as some are getting a corroded now.

The air springs run between 100 psig and 140 psig.

Recommend you carefully check the front of the reservoir for leaks again. I hear they are starting to rust through.

Have you had your fault codes read? That might help pinpoint where your problem lies.

Somebody will be along in a minute to try and flog you a BBS Nanocom Evo if you hang around long enough... Whistle

In the interests of balance, other diagnostic tools are available. Thumbs Up

The compressor will stop running when the tank hits around 18 bar

At normal ride height, the air springs hold around 10 bar

Off road height is 12.5 bar

What if the relay sticks on?- will the compressor pump over 18 bar?
If I was the OP I would change the relay.

Pilot Exhaust Valve
A solenoid-operated pilot exhaust valve is connected to the air delivery gallery, downstream of the air dryer. When the solenoid is energized, the pilot valve opens and pilot air moves the main compressor exhaust valve plunger to deflate the air springs as required. Pressurized air from the air springs and/or reservoir passes through the reservoir control valve to the air supply unit.
The solenoid has a resistance value of 4 Ohms at a temperature of 20°C (68°F)

Exhaust Valve
The exhaust valve has three functions. It operates in conjunction with the pilot exhaust valve to allow air to be exhausted from the air springs and/or the reservoir as described previously.
The valve also protects the system from over-pressure, since it is connected into the main pressure gallery which is always subject to the system pressure available in either the air springs or the reservoir. The valve restricts the maximum operating pressure to between 333.5 and 370 lbf/in2 (23.0 to 25.5 bar).
The minimum pressure in the system is also controlled by the exhaust valve to ensure that the air springs contain positive pressure, even when deflated. This protects the air spring by ensuring it can still ‘roll’ over the piston without creasing.

Air Reservoir
The reservoir is a steel fabrication, located on the outside of the left hand chassis rail in front of the air supply unit. The rearward end of the reservoir has a ‘Voss’ air fitting for connection of the air hose to the reservoir valve block.
The reservoir stores pressurized air to ensure immediate availability for fast air suspension lift times. It has a capacity of 550 in3 (9 liters). The nominal working pressure of the reservoir is 243.6 lbf/in2 (16.8 bar gage), with a maximum pressure of 333.5 lbf/in2 (23 bar gage).
