one shot passenger window...
Hi D3 Gurus
Is there a mod or part that can be installed to convert the front passenger side window a “one shot†opening window? If so where from and how much please?

Update from LR…
Update from LR…
I have placed a call to the head office of LR and they have shot my question down. The software loaded onto the 06 HSE will not take any mod to allow the single op passenger window. Its old tech meeting new tech. Gutted….

Need a guru on here to clarify that as LR will tell you it's not possible to add cruise control as a mod but as we know, you can with the help of an MSV2.
I wondered the other day if its possible to take a second drivers side switch pack and pull it apart and put the drivers window switch into the passenger side side slot...... Anybody tried it or is software controlled??

I was actually wondering the same thing recently. My AC isn't working right now, so been using the old-style of putting the windows down..
Since I'm in Canada, my one touch drivers window, is your passenger window, and vice versa. So, it is possible to control the window, not sure of any actual technical reasons though..

Whilst I am an electronics engineer I have not done any work on the Disco 'electronically'.
But, just looking at the linked idea of adapting a 'Mini', this is something I would not attempt to do in the same fashion on our Disco's. The problem is, they are just too complicated. If you think about the tail lights and putting the wrong ones in causing all sorts of problems you will get the idea.
A best bet would be to search the internet to see if anyone else has done the same job on the Disco or has built a kit for it.
Would be interesting to stick a LHD drivers side switch cluster to a RHD D3 and see what happens...... part number and price from Mr TLO on Tuesday maybe??

Definitely not something I would attempted on mine... But in theory, it's only a capacitor and resistor tricking the switch into thinking it's being held down/up...
You just need to work out (read â€trial and errorâ€) the size of capacitor to hold enough charge to move the window through it's full range...flickr

The auto function is built into the driver's switch panel to provide the latch-down / latch up signal on C0081-5 and C0081-6. Electrically it is nothing more than the what you achieve by holding the button down with your finger; it is not software. Downstream of the switch the wiring layout is the same for all four motors.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

So is this simply a case of changing the switch for that of a later model i.e. from 07MY on?

Just stripped my switch pack and obviously the drivers switch is different to the rest as it has 2 more switches which are sw6 & sw7 in the pic

The multi plug for the passenger switch is different to the drivers side so I don't think trying a LHD one will work but saying that you could poss make a fly lead between the plug and the switch pack but if it did work it would only work for the passenger and not from the drivers side, all in all its not looking good Wanted D4s non runners pm for competitive price.

Bu66er! Once it bits is of course obvious that it's not a simple switch but a PCB with lots of switches
So swapping out the buttons isn't going to make a jott of difference. Was there one shot on later D3's and of course would the innards of a D4 switch pack fit??

Has anyone tried to change the window motor/ ecu. Looking at the wiring diagrams the switch is the same between years 05-09. There is different part numbers for 05-07 to 08-09 window regulators/motors. This may be what needs to be changed is the window ecu then. Worth a shot if it works.Land Rover Master Guild Technician.
