Engine Modifications.

I have the engine currently pulled and disassembled on a 2005 lr3 that needed engine rebuild from overheat. Is there anything known that can be done inside the engine while it is apart to add performance or durability.
Also if anyone is interested in vehicle hit me up might be for sale once engine is rebuilt.

Given your location I'm guessing it's a V8?

Decided to just replace head gaskets, piston rings and honed cylinders. Engine runs great and has plenty of power like it was brand new. For the most part on the highway it also gets 18mpg on a good day at 80mph.
Did look at doing the port and polishing but ran out of time in rebuilding engine.

18mpUSg is about what I get (22mpIg) from my diesel at such heady speeds. Almost economical with US gas prices. Thumbs Up

I wouldn't mind a diesel in my lr3 but happy with how it turned out.

So how is it that LR release engine spares for the V8 but not the diesel. Is it because they know our American cousins wouldn't put up with it and would sue the Censored out of someone.

Isn't 18 mpUSg = 15 mpIg ?....
So what you get is almost 50% economical...

LE. Sorry... my mistake... was thinking in volume, not fuel consumption...
Indeed 18 mpUSg = 22 mpIg.

Not sure there are to many to spare for the V8. I know we had to wait 2 months at the dealer for an engine for a full size to show up. Then when it showed up it was out of time and re-time the new engine.
Also isn't the mileage the other way around. 15mpUSg = 18mpIg.

US gallons are indeed much smaller than real ones.
