bulb and MOT questions after detango

I detangoed my headlight recently and because I didnt find any bulbs except amber in halfords.

when i switch on my indicators, looks like people can see from 2 miles away as the beam is straight.
I was wondering if switching to darker amber or chrome bulbs will de-power the beam.

Another question did you have any issue with MOT ? well I cant see why i wont pass MOT by detangoing the headlights.

Thanks all

Not had any problems with the last three MOTs I've had with de tangoed lights. I run mine with led bulbs Thumbs Up

I found the same issue with mine after doing the mod, that's one of the problems with the de-tango mod, the amber bit in front of the indicator acts as a diffuser to spread the light beam from the lamp and plain reflector behind it, the standard incandescent bulb has a relatively small point light source, the best way forward is with LED bulbs with a much larger light source area.

These are the ones I've got in mine -

Edited to add - you'll need to add resistors to correct the indicator flash rate on the dash.

kind of very expensive about 30£ for 2 of them.

description says :
In most applications these bulbs therefore don't require the additional resistors.

I believe we still need resistors. when did you have them from ?

I had some at home that I'd previously bought from Farnell for another job, 8.2Ω 25 watt if I remember correctly, but Steve at AF sells them too :thumbsup

I m surprised many people didnt notice that de tangoing makes the indicator very bright accept if everyone got LEd bulbs.

thanks!
