| Help please, loud whine from rear n/s on deceleration |

So it started suddenly today decelerating from 70 mph getting off the motorway. A loud whine, not unlike power drill or angle grinder that's noticeable down to about 30mph, not sure if it's louder when going round sharp corners or not, but definitely stops as soon as I accelerate again.
I'm off on holiday on Tuesday, towing a trailer tent to Dartmoor, can anyone suggest what the problem might be, if it can be ignored for 5 or 6 hundred miles, or do I have to find someone to do an emergency diff change (assuming a worst case)?

I would check the diff for leaks, and has it got oil in it, when was it changed?
Check the wheel bearings 
If the wheel bearings are good, maybe change the diff oil as a precaution. It's not going to harm it.
Also, check it has the improved breather on the diff
