Cheapest way to replace a key

After a losing battle with the washing machine, I need a replacement spare key. My main key works fine.

I sent the damaged key to a place that refurbishes them. I was told the whole circuit board is corroded so they couldn't fix it.

So what is the cheapest way of getting a replacement key. Is it to buy one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/suitable-for-LAN...20e06148db and get someone with a Faultmate to programme it??

As long as it is a NEW and and programmed key fob, yes you can get it reprogrammed by a faultmate (or IID tool, I think) and then just get the new blade cut from a key smith.

I did this and it was by far the cheapest. Thumbs Up

Yeovil LR (site sponsor) will do you a new key for below £130 I think... when I got one earlier in the year I am sure it was around that amount Mr. Green

Then members in your area will pair it for you Thumbs Up

Keys cannot be reprogrammed, you must have a genuine unprogrammed key for it to be programmed to your car, even then there have been instances where a new key cannot be programed to the existing module and a new module has had to be fitted along with two new keys Shocked , in this case if a main agent has done the programing LR have been "lenient" with the charge for the module.

It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
