1) Where can I purchase seat covers for D3 ? I ordered the new spec TDV6 S which now has leather seats, or will the leather withstand children/dogs onslaughts ?
2) Where can I purchase dog guard ? Same as for Defender/D2
3) Is it worth the effort to carry a holiday pack for D3 when going on trips ? - I always take one for Defender and has used items a couple of times (rubber water hose, turbo hose, globes, serpent belt).
Lastly, please inform me what a LR3 is ? I see it being referred to a lot on the forum - did not want to ask in the bigger forum in case I make a g_t of myself !

1) LR Sell them
2) LR Sell them
3) Dunno, no need over here but quite possibly in your neck of the woods
LR3 is what the Discovery 3 is called in the US & Middle East (and too late on the g_t front, you've gone global ) The End

Hi Deon
1) Takla do a nice set of canvas covers, but they are quite expensive. TBH I think its a bit overkill, I have done 48000km with dogs, kids & worse and the leather still looks new. If you are into the Takla stuff, most LR dealers sell it
2) Dog guard from your dealer. Not aware of alternatives. My swaer has it and loves it. My dogs are well behaved, and we don't take them further than the park or the vet, so I have never really been in the market for one.
3) Depends where you go. In SA, not worth the trouble, seeing as the farthest dealer would only ever be 4 hours away. Outside SA, yes. "Aubrey" posted about this, and I am busy updating with his favourite dealer, so hopefully later today can post a "recommended spares" list.
Oh, and Slimer - Stop it!

Hi Baben
No pressure, but how are you going with recommended spares list ?
Would like to order timeously from dealer. On enquiry on dog guard I was told that the order can take op to two months as it is not a frequently ordered accessory

I will check with Bedfordview - they have always assisted me with Defender. Waterford was very unhelpful with this in the past (although I know Jan the service manager well from Bedfordview). Sandton tried to put one together for one trip, but on inspection I realised that 50% of the parts were incorrectly supplied.

OK, spoke to Midrand again. I get a message from Jonathan the parts manager, via Nico the service manager that they will supply any parts I want, but will charge me a 20% handling fee if I return them in a 100% saleable condition.
Needless to say, I am flabbergasted.
I left a detailed message for the dealer-principal, Marius, and await his response.......
(don't hold your breath)

I have spoken to Bedfordview. According to them this service (holiday kit) is only available for Defenders - they mostly supply them for game viewers. They could consider doing the same for disco3, but only if there is sufficient demand.
Can we organise a toy-toy at their offices ?

as usual there are many different stories from land rover sa!
basically if i am prepared to pay 20% of the parts i can get whatever i want from midrand. the problem is if i buy the parts i will never need them in a normal situation as the vehicle is under maintenance. if i return the parts i will have paid 20% of the value for the rental.
maybe the dp will offer me a better deal but from past experience i doubt it.
i love my disco but am seriously getting depressed at the level of response whenever i try to do anything but drive it on a tar road within the sa borders

Hello Bruce!
Nice to see you back.
You may have noticed I bought some wheels in the UK from NickTDV6 - hopefully they are here next week.
Rescheduled the fuel tank till next Wed, because mrs needs the vehicle tomorrow.
we need to do beers at Baron again?

Hi Anthony
Thanks, I have been travelling so much but finally slowing down. Good news on the rims...may I ask the cost to get them here? I am also keen on a set.
Beers at the Baron sound good....how about this Friday?
Cheers
Bruce

GBP500 for the wheels - shipping, will know next week. Last quote I had was about GBP200, so all in all should be a bargain compared to buying them for R25k from the stealers. Friday already got arrangements, sorry, but maybe next week?

Don't let Aubrey scare you off - I'd like to see the tank when it's done and I know where the baron is

Heine - You bet! Did you fit that towbar yet?
Maybe we should make a date then. The tank (& maybe the wheel carrier) will be fitted next Wed. How about we make a date at the Baron in Midrand next Fri? Bruce - you can come to our neck of the woods & see how the underprivileged live. Anyone else D3 in the area welcome of course.
