Got a little time after the running around and BBQ this afternoon, so made the tailgate frame, cut the sheet to clad it and also the sheet for the rear, not fixed yet as I need more rivets
Drilled fixings for the roof tent through the roof and upper frame too

I've was wandering about how to fix the roof tent, no rush but pics would be good
I was thinking of a roof bar type of thing, welded to the frame and clad around the bar feet sort of thingIggy/Ieuan

Ieuan, I have steel supports in the right place, in the roof
The RT will be bolted using coach bolts through its floor, it's aluminium mounting plates (these are on the underside, the type you can slide bolt heads into) then through the roof and the steel work below
Coach bolts have a wide domed head, so not noticeable through the mattress and spread the load a little, it will sit directly on the roof, no significant gap underneath as with a roof rack or bars Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Well as I said it had to be green, so today I took advantage of the warm still weather, sprayed other in etch primer and then NATO Green its old paint I've had for years but came out OK
The top now puts the tub to shame, but at least you don't get blinded by the shinny ally in the sun anymore.
I need some more paint to touch up areas of the original trailer so I'll get my paint shop pals onto it on Tuesday when I drop the D3 off around the corner for its auto box surgeryAltox GSM FBH controller thread
