Disco4 SDV6 engine remap to Range Rover Sport SDV6 specs
Anyone know whether it is possible to apply Land Rover supplied Range Rover SDV6 engine map to a Disco 4 SDV6 using Faultmate or equivalent tool? There is a significant difference in spec between the two - but the same base engine.
NB - I am not interested in a raft of 3rd party engine mapping solutions - just curious about whether it is possible to apply the Range Rover supplied mapping to a Disco - with maybe a trick or two to achieve it.

I thought there were physical differences too?Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
That may be so ... Would be interesting to find out if there are - and whether they could be applied to the Disco (like larger more effective inter cooler rather than internal mods which can't be replicated ... Like Cylinder head or block differences )Never be afraid to try something new ...

increase bhp
Anybody know just what Land Rover have done to increase those extra bhp
Have I stumbled upon the best kept secret among engine tuners ???
Do they simply repackage LR's higher performance maps [like the one I am referring to] and sell for profit?
Chatted to an LR mechanic the other day and he said he knows of no physical differences between the SDV6 engine fitted to a Disco and that fitted to RR Sport. He says however that the LR supplied PC based software system will not allow an engine map from a Disco to be applied to an RR. He believes this is controlled in the software and not in the ECU's.
Would be interesting to hear if anyone else with a faultmate or other tool has given this a try.Never be afraid to try something new ...

As far as I'm aware, the 3.0L TDV6/SDV6 models have protection on the OBD port protocol so that accessing the ECU via that port is not possible for aftermarket tuners. The only way is by direct connection to the ECU. I.e off the car. Until the protocol is cracked of course!
So yes they lock it down so that they can sell a higher spec model with slightly more power!Current: D3 TDV6 S; GGAT's, DIY 7inch Tablet mount, DIY Reversing Camera, Stage 1 remap, EGR delete
