SCOTLAND TRIP JUNE 2014
Hi guys,
My wife and I are planning a camping trip up to the North West of Scotland on the week beginning the 9th June and wondered if anyone was going to be in the area at the same time?
The plan is to drive up to Thurso and then work our way South West along the coast taking in the beautiful scenery and beaches and basically take each day as it comes with no rush to get anywhere within a certain time frame.
Would be nice to bump in to some other clubs fans on the way

Make the most of it before Independence, all that nonsense will stop after that.
The 9th of June is early. School even up here won't be on holiday until the start of July, so you shouldn't be stowed out with visitors. Midges will be just be kicking off.

I'm from Dundee mate so I'll get my passport
Hoping it's quiet that's why we picked those dates "MIDGES"? They drink my blood like its a vintage wine the little bar stewards but we will be on the beach side most of the time so we should be fine "Your mind is like a parachute! It will only function when open"!

Dundee. You're just the right side of the water, but an ex pat. "Mate" your even sounding like them!
Aye right, Midgies, they get everywhere. You do develop an immunity, I mean they still bite, but you don't really notice them much.
If you get the weather, your set for your holidays, if not, a week is an eternity.
Remind me before you travel up. If I am free, the winds in the right direction and your not too far from Gairloch, Ullapool direction ......

Just purchased a RAM IPAD VEHICLE MOUNT for my car after trawling the net looking for something that was literally not going to be in my face
Should arrive tomorrow and then I'll get it fitted ASAP.
Depending where I am going, what I am doing and if I'm on my own or not I have a selection of GPS devices to fall back on should my map reading skills fail me (God forbid)
The first device I ever bought was a Garmin Vista etrex c and it served me well for about 7 years in Iraq and then I found the SATMAP ACTIVE 10 which is fantastic and I use on a daily basis, but now I've got my new bracket coming I'll be using the Ipad and memory map app a lot more.
Coming from the military I've got this strange obsession with knowing where I am at all times

Well folks that's us all packed for our trip up to the NW Scotland
Off to bed shortly as going to hit the road early tomorrow as want to be at first camp site before tea time, well before and I reckon the trip will take us about 10 hours with about 460 miles to Thurso
If anyone spots us on the M6/M74/A9 etc give us a wave "Your mind is like a parachute! It will only function when open"!

I'm travelling from, pretty much, Skye Bridge to Coventry tomorrow night, then back again up to Inverness Wednesday before heading back over to the West coast Weds night. If you're in the area any time Thurs am to Sunday pm let me know and I'll put the kettle on, or get ready a dram.
Oh I've got access to a 4-poster and a pretty decent roster of tools if you need to do any tweaking.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto
