oil temp sensor

while for oil change, my indie guy checked for faults....
his autologic showed "oil temp sensor"....i never had any amber light on....

is this probably part no 1359056

questions:
1) should this be replaced immediately???
2) what the causes if this not working???

cheers

Worth replacing as hey are cheap and easy to change. Causes the revs to hunt and sometimes temp gauge has a mind of its own!

Further on this, i visited again the Indie, faults were read as:

P0196 - Engine Oil Temperature Sensor curcuit range/performance
P0199 - Engine Oil Temperature Sensor Intermittent

i'll get the sensor and change it.....

When mine failed, there were no faults codes. Only symptoms were as per the video.

Fault was traced reading the live data. Temp reading was -40 Laughing

It is screwed into l/h side of sump. Note you will lose some oil changing this unless you are very quick Laughing Did mine when I drained oil for oil and filt change, not absolutely necessary, but could get a bit messy otherwise.
