Warranty Direct - Key fob replacement, will they do it ?

As per title, key fob has started to be sporadic opening and locking the car so need a replacement. Read the warranty book from WD and unless I am being thick, I cant see anything about what is covered key wise. Does anyone know, and has anyone claimed for a replacement ? Thanks for the advice James

Extra Care? If it's not specifically mentioned I doubt they'd cover it.

yep its extra care I think. Geoff can sort me out when he does the service but if I can get WD to cough up i would much prefer that.

I've asked them this question directly in the past, apparently the battery in the key is down as a replaceable part so you'd have to prove the issue was with the keyfob itself and not the battery before they'd look at it I suspect.

I think the dealer would just want you to replace the key which is about £140 IIRC.

Or you could change the battery yourself for about £3

Not gone through WD but sorted my key fob out for under £20, ordered case off eBay for £14.99 take pic of your key and they scan it into machine waited couple days and received the key fob and a new key that has been cut too, excellent quality.

Ordered battery off cpc couple off quid.

Noticed with mine when I stripped it down that the + battery terminal had somehow snapped from the pcb Exclamation so just de soldered the old battery , new battery soldered in and hey presto one new and fully functioning key fob.

Just for the sceptics the company are a genuine one checked them out on the net and it's a key cutting company with a shop etc, I was a bit hesitant sending pic of my key at first but thought i would give it ago and I still have my disco, well green oval do Rolling with laughter

I am stretched doing a hard re-set so not sure my skills will be up to changing the battery myself.

The key started working yesterday after a longish drive (prior to the drive it wouldn't) so either the battery isn't keeping charge or I have that wiring loom issue on the passenger side which makes it sporadic.

might just order a new one and see how I get on from the new TLO (which is yet to be decided apparently as spoke with them earlier !)

thanks for the suggestions.

ebygum is the ebay company essentially the same as what land rover supply ? I.e a key that works but just needs re-programming to the car ?

Or do you need to swap the internals off the wonky key into the new case ? sorry if being thick

I just swapped the internals over, here is the ebay number eBay Item No. 131169868932 for the one I bought.

It's a very good case and key that you get, and only takes about 20 mins to swap, the hardest part is getting the old key fob apart,

Anything else give me a shout.
