can the thule basket somehow be mounted directly onto the roof rails - it look a bit odd stuck on top of the cross bars. is it a one man job to lift up and fit ?
It would be possible to mount the rack with the clamps reversed so the the Square roof bars are actually above/inside the basket instead of underneath. This would put the basket pretty much at roof level but would obviously restrict weight that was being carried as all weight would be on clamps rather than bars.

Ok thanks. it says the max weight is 60Kgs so wouldn't want to reduce that!
it looks a decent rack for the moneyDuncan

Quality is amazing and its very strong but very light - very pleased
PS: If you take off with Bars/Feet attached would only take 5 minutes max.

Possibly if I keep it...
Can I have a proper picture of the grill/front of your car and how did you mount the front spots.
I normally do Roof based 4x spots but decided against this time as I really like the look of the Thule Basket system.

I use common products like Demon Shine and Maguires Instant Shine but only on a car that has been properly washed and leathered off first. I get my cars valeted and waxed frequently so the wax builds up quite quickly to a serious shine.

Mirror finish essential, I have a 90% view to sale rate and the shine is part of that, the other bit is making sure I sell properly prepared and interesting Land Rovers...

Do you have a step by step costing for this? Looks good and it's what I want to do to one.

If you have £10k to buy a "normal" D3 S then you would need another £4k+ to make it look like mine.
So as above you may as well buy this one (or similar if there is one) as you cannot achieve this specification for £10k total!
That's the point of the thread really, the spend increases desirability of the car but not profit which will be same as if I sold pre converted car for £10-11k ish.
All the new parts needed are quality items and are not cheap however sourced. My parts total was £3454.00 at trade prices and BEFORE any labour cost of fitting. Assume at least £4000 plus price of car.
