Suggestion for a new section
Having talked to many Disco3'ers over the last couple of years, many appear to be sole traders or small business's - how about a section where B2B contacts can be made, services offered etc. etc. in keeping with the site rules, monthly donations above a minimum amount should be made, and as it would be a 'business' section - if ya don't want to know, you don't have to go there
just a thought, there's quite a few members out there trying to develop small or part-time business opportunities, equally, there may be others looking for service providers or niche products..... even internationally - whaddaya think?

Suggested this sometime ago but it was poo poo'd (or however its spelt).
Should imagine it would be useful for members to sell their wares to others... but is the sponsorship route not a better way in addition to having this section so its fair to all ?

Maybe something along the lines of................"for every item you sell to a member you make an agreed donation (with Martin) to the site too", that way you wouldn't be getting preferencial treatment over those that choose the sponsorship route.2004 Discovery 3 - gone
2006 Discovery 3 - gone
2008 Discovery 3 GS - gone
2011 Freelander LE Special Edition - gone

Sponsorship is great if you want to reach every member as a potential customer - it can (in the case of other sites, not Disco3.co.uk) also be intrusive, what I'm suggesting is an area where sole traders and small business's can interact together and other members can search for other Diso3'ers providing goods or services that fit their needs...
bombarding all members & guests with banners and general advertising would reduce the effectiveness of the advertising and generally be a bit of a -ve point IMO, having an area where you could go to look for specific needs (therefore making a positive move to search out the information) would be a better way of doing things as most members would not be bombarded with potentially irrelevant information, of course, anyone (such as me ) wanting to advertise to the members & guests in general would still be free to do so - assuming you actually get a reply...

Like I said Iain... I had suggested this ages ago in order for members to trade professions and find out what services each other could offer.
There is a huge mix of professions on here that many could potentially benefit from if we knew who did what. Some of us already have benefited from others skill sets.
Its a natural part of a 'community' and that's what we have right here on this forum.

You can try something like "linked-in" in the telecom/IT sector it's quite popular, but of course it's not Disco-specific

I think it's an excellent idea, and TFC's comment about too many banners / pop ups etc VERY valid
