Rention Certificate and first reg fee
I cant remember on this from the last purchase, but if I have a VRM on a retention certificate and get this applied to a brand new unregistered car, Do I need to pay the £55 First Registration fee as part of the new car purchase price.
Im thinking that maybe its covered in the cost of the retention certificate ?, but cant rememberDuncan

Last time I did it you had a choice when putting the reg on to the certificate - you could pay the additional charge now or later for putting it on the car - so depends on which you selected when you put the reg on retention.MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

thanks
so if I take the reg off my current car and put it on retention, I can then give the certificate to the dealer to put on my new car - but I shouldn't be charged the £55 licence fee by the dealer on the new car. Duncan

I did that with the BM 4 years ago but can't remember if I paid the £55. I'd assume you do as it's a fee to register the car, and you just choose to put the retained number on it.

Not sure about the dealers fee sorry but no additional fee from DVLAI started off with nothing and Ive still got most of it left.

I suspect the DVLA will charge the £55 first registration fee as it is the first time this vehicle will be registered. The cost included in the retention cert is just to transfer the number, not to register the vehicle.

ok thanks.
it no good me asking the dealer. the one I spoke to today said the NFU discount came out of their margin and the £300 rear view camera could only be ordered with a £1250 ICE upgrade Duncan
