False Low Fuel Warning & Limp Home?

About 20 miles after filling up, got the Low Fuel Warning and it has stayed on through several trips. Having done a search on here, I know it's either a faulty sensor unit or a wiring problem but until I can get it sorted, is there any danger of the car going into limp home mode please? can't find any mention of this and I've now done c. 250 miles with the light on, so I'm really hoping not!

Oil Level Check Disabled?

OK so nobody has had it go into limp mode, I assume. Thumbs Up

New question - does the low fuel warning prevent the oil level check working - I'm getting 'not available at this time' even after a 20 minute standstill????

CS
I Had a tank sensor failure and I called out LRA and the technician said that in some cases it puts the vehicle into limp mode because the ecu recognises low fuel and does it to prevent any further damage to the fuel system.
A new tank sensor and software update sorted the problem Thumbs Up

Thanks for that SS. I'm still getting away with it - refilled tank yesterday so we've done approx 300 miles without limping. Fingers crossed - I don't really want to get it sorted till we go away in June.

I had this problem for a few months, it's a long way to the land rover dealer from here.

They had to replace both senders in the tank, I believe its a relatively common problem (mine is a 2011) in all that time it never went into limp mode.

I did it for 1000's of miles, one just needs to use the trip meter to know when to refuel.

Not Limp But DEAD!

Well my luck ran out Embarassed Drove 2 miles into town with a slight misfire. Came home with engine cutting out every 50 - 250 yards. This was not restricted power but complete stop engine - so no power to steering. RAC patrol diagnosed low fuel warning and power stopped. Now on back of lowloader for repair under RAC warranty (I very much hope!)
Censored ing glad I was driving - SWMBO would not have coped - and that it wasn't in the outside lane of the motorway. Seems a very dangerous method of protecting mechanical parts against further damage Shocked

and the reason

So why did they knock back the warranty claim?

Stupidly Embarassed I left the warranty booklet in the car so I couldn't check it - the garage said it was't 'an included item'.
I'll report back when I've had a chance to read the booklet - including the small print!

Did you actually run out of fuel or was it the faulty sensor problem causing the engine to shut down?

No definitely did not run out of fuel - according to Trip A had only done about 250 miles since last fill up. (Mild OCD - never run out of fuel in over 50 years motoring Big Cry )

Got the car back & running fine including fuel gauge etc

OK so here's what the invoice says:

'Work carried out:
Traced fault to fuel tank sender units connections
Removed fuel tank & carried out repair to connections
Refitted tank & confirmed fault rectified'

Parts/Materials:
Connector -cable 6 x £1.00 each
JLR vehicle diagnostic code read 1 x £45.00
Free wash & vac'

Total price £248.40 (inc VAT)

Prompt & efficient service from Taylors in Gt Dunmow - very pleased it got washed as it did need it!

RAC Gold warranty specifically excludes 'wiring harnesses, wiring terminals and remaking of disturbed electrical connections' so it was down to me to pay!

Thanks to those who replied/read. MORAL: if the low fuel warning comes on without just cause - it might go into 'shut down engine mode' but you can't tell when! Shocked
