Which towing mirrors?

I need to replace my towing mirrors as the rubber straps on my current ones have perished after 6 years, so I cant complain.

So any advice on which to get and which to avoid would be appreciated.
Man with no D3 anymore, but cant leave the forum....how sad.

+4 or Milenco Grand Aero's, you can set them up in a flash, and unlike other mirrors I have never had a Milenco mirror fall off.

Milenco Grand Aero here too 8)

I noticed cars putting them on with the bar at the top clamping to the top of the mirror but on the D3 the mirror capping means you don't get a good grip so now I install them with the bar at the bottom and clamp to the bottom of the mirror.... works a treat.

With the Grand Aero I followed advice on here and got the convex version rather than straight to give even better visibility.

if you have a D4 - do not clamp them to the bottom of the mirror.

when the mirrors fold in, the bar can damage the doors !!

same with the D3, but the mirrors don't fold in automatically. same applies if your mirror gets knocked when passing vehicles etc

don't know what they are like on MY14 as the mirrors are a different shape

Hadn't thought of that Embarassed

That said - they don't clamp securely to the top of the mirror so what to do ?? You either get the clamping pad to fully "back" in which case it is half on the mirror casing and half on the capping or you only have to halfway on in which case it only has 50% of the area on the mirror casing - either way doesn't grip well enough that the smallest of knocks doesn't have the mirror dangling.

Interested in what others are doing in case I'm missing something obvious

I manage to clamp them the top without any problems. just be careful how tight you do them up

I also think the Milenco Grand Aero's are great towing mirrors. The only problem I found was that there is for some reason a redundant hole on each of the clamping brackets which was causing a wind whistling noise on the driver’s side only that took me quite a while to track down. A neatly folded Starburst (Opal fruits) wrapper from one of the kids stuffed in the hole soon cured that problem Thumbs Up Laughing
