So SWMBO and I have been thinking about buying a tin tent for a while, so taking the opportunity in a break from her studying we popped out today to look round the local caravan dealers to have a bit of a look around...
Well one thing led to another and were now the owners of a 2010 Sterling Europa 520....so this is our first outfit and the guys let us also have £500 worth of starter pack gear to get us started...
We don't pick it up for another month due to work and going away on holiday but I'm kinda looking forward to caravan holidays again....we're also on the look out for an awning too
Cheers

Thanks guys
Before an awning I'll be swapping the N and S electrics over ready for the 13 pin connection....I'll be ordering a kit from the local main dealer tomorrow....
As far as awnings go, my old man reckons Isabella all the way.....
Looking forward to the first run out anyway..
Cheers

Nice one Joe
Enjoy when you pick it up. A cheaper alternative to changing the electrics is an adapter that you just plug into your existing sockets and the caravan socket to the other end. About £20 I seem to remember.

Hi Andy
Thanks, just had a look on the bay, they all look a bit cumbersome, wondering about changing the twin electrics to a single 13 pin socket on the existing harness.
Cheers

I use an adaptor, works well and not as cumbersome as they look on towsure.
Bradcot awning too and seems very well made and easy to setup on our Sterling (2008/9 650 Europa) MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

The adaptors are a bit big, and I did use a zip tie to stop it flopping around when connected. But the big difference in price between adaptor, or new tow electrics for the car made my mind up.

I have an Isabella Magnum and have to say its a cracking piece of kit!!
I did the twin to single socket change about a month ago, got mine from TLO the site sponsor, its an easy swap if not a bit dirty but well worth it , dont forget to uprate the permanent live fuse o 20A if you have ATC fitted!!

Hi Joe
have you looked at smaller awnings? I always swore by full awnings when we had our last van, until we bought our current van last year. When we picked the van up, we were dead keen to get away so i bought a Kampa Rally 260 as a temporary measure and wouldn't bother with a full awning now. It takes minutes to put up, it's light & dries quickly which is a big bonus ad we use the van a lot in the winter. If you go for a full one, look at aluminium poles. I found it a lot easier with our bradcot. Choose wisely, theres loads to choose from

Thanks for the advice and comments guys,
We've not looked at any smaller awnings yet, we're planning a trip to Lowdhams on Saturday to see what's available and what suits our budget...
Club pack arrived today, we're really looking forward to getting away with it now, although we don't pick it up for a month
Cheers
