My wife and I have just (this week) purchased a campsite in East Devon on the Jurassic Coast.
Nice big site with 100 pitches and for those that do not want to lug the tent or caravan with them (like me!) - we have 10 statics for hire.
If I am allowed to say the name of it I will but if the mods can confirm it is in the rules first as I do not want to ruffle any feathers!
What I would like to know is what do you guys look for when you are seeking out a site? What would make a difference and I know a lot of people are doing it on other sites, but it is worth having a 4x4 event in this area?
Any comments/feedback would be appreciated. Nice dog friendly family site with plenty of space. Clean showers with plenty of hot water and laundry. (Shower block starting to look dated now and something in our "things to do list").
Sadly no pub in walking distance (next door) but we will be getting an off licence in time.
And of course we are not just limited to 4x4's

Very interesting, good luck from an ex 200+ pitch site owner We stay in that area regularly, PM me further details.
One thing we find very successful at other sites we have used is special out of season weekly offers for adults only, these usually consist of a full package of pitch, electric, awning with 2 adults. we have stayed at three sites that do this and they have all been full with a waiting list out of season, while others have been 25%. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Mark,
I have looked at your new camping and caravanning site and it is one I think we will visit, there are a huge number of tin tenters, tenters, and trippers who use this forum so I wonder if it might be worth speaking to the owners mods or whoever manages stuff and see if you could offer a discount to forum members for some greater visibility on the site.
Best wishes D3 HSE ........................Gone!!!

I'm sure we will pop in for a couple of nights in our motorhome, not that far from us but there's no need to go far in the southwest! Please PM me the site details
We prefer sites without club house bars etc etc in high season so yours sounds good.
Shower blocks etc,
Stuff like hooks in shower rooms to hang you bag on (put a screw in the door on one site!) a chair
and a duck board type thing in your dressing area.
We have found a couple of sites with family bathrooms, great when you have small children as you can
all pile in and get showered.
Kids play area with a swing and climbing frame is always a big hit.
Little shop/booking office selling basics like bread and milk, decent meat for BBQ's, Bacon, ice creams and sweets, doesn't need to open all hours
Washing machine and tumble drier....
I like super pitches with water and waste if we're stopping for a couple or more nights and have a car with us as it saves moving the van. There seems to be more and more sites offering them. MY14 post man pat van

And lots of other stuff in my shed, on my driveway or abandoned in the village
Several VW T5's

And a Suzuki X90... Only drive that at night

If the site is of a less formal layout allowing campfires is great! MY14 post man pat van

Stayed several times over the years as it's just up the road from us and good for a quick weekend
Very nice site, as I remember the last owner had a Land Rover or it could have just been the chap who ran the admin
Look forward to meeting you later in the year, Blue Ball is excellent for food and not that far
