Troublesome paddle shift on D4 2014

Since a couple of days I'm driving my new D4 MY2014, good in so many points of view ... but in the several positive things, I can't avoid to noticed the irrational position, in my opinion, of the shift paddles on the steering wheel, that being too close to the steering wheel cause some not intentional gear changes when you turn the steering wheel quickly.
Probably after a bit of time you get used to, but at the moment it is really troublesome ....
Maybe, if I shortened them a bit 'would be better, in fact I'm thinking to try to do it ....
Has anyone noticed the same thing?

Same here accidentally hit them a few times when new ... It helped me to use them for all gear changes on a twisty long route to familiarise myself with their use.

im regularly flashing my main beam instead of changing a gear.

I hate the things - ok when travelling in a straight line but when going round hairpin bends especially up / down hill they are useless

Never had a problem with them. Especially useful/fun in the twisty bits of road. You'll get used to them Smile

can be a Censored in low range off road.
left is down right is up...until you move the wheel 180 degrees
can be very very confusing and potenial dangerous if you select wrong gear just before a drop off

Dear all, thanks a lot for your experience.
Yesterday, reading a Land Rover D4 brochure I discovered on some markets the paddleshift aren't provided on D4.
This means that must exist some caps to put on the steering wheel at the place of paddleshift.
Maybe this is the best solution for who, like me, don't like paddles.
In this way, if you change idea, you can ever remove the caps and restore the paddles.
What do you think? Someone know if that caps really exist?

I really would use them a bit to get used to them.

On most journeys, except in slow town driving and traffic jams, I tend to use sport mode and the paddles, I like to decide when to change gear and when not to, like when you want to accelerate slowly (say 50 - 70) on the motorway when it clears a little or even just going up a steepish hill when in a manual car you wouldn't even think about changing down.........

At first I kept on catching mine and then forgetting to read the manual on how to get back to automatic mode so was putting it into sport then D.

Finally remembered to RTFM (Read the Censored Manual) and it was a simple pull and hold the up paddle Whistle

You're not serious about this are you? Thud Even at normal speed it's not hard to use the paddles in tighter turns, roundabouts for instance. Off road, if you're having to rush it then you're going too fast anyway. My dog can keep track of how many turns the wheel has done ! BTW, you should be selecting the gear before moving towards the drop off - makes life a little less "entertaining" in those conditions Thumbs Up Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter
