A tale of Two couriers
In the past week I have shipped two sets of 4 x Tyres.
One set the postage was organised by me and I used MD Couriers. One was organised by the buyer and they chose another courier (MD was offered but was £2 more than the chap had been quoted )
Here's how both transactions went:
Namless 'Other' couriers (Non MD):
14 hours before scheduled pickup and 6 days after being booked I receive an email saying that 4 labels need to be printed out and affixed to each package. I try to print it out but it's coming out all messed up on my printer.
Ring support and get
"Oh yeah mate you need to print it on an A3 Printer"
I tell them my printer is A4, the labels are only A5 size so ask why does it have to be on A3?
"Right, well, dunno then. Can you ask someone else to do it for you?"
So after more faffing about I have to take a screenshot of the emailed labels then put them into photoshop, resize to the correct size and paste it into an A4 document so they come out right.
Total time spent on the labels: 1.5 Hours.
Then this morning I get a message saying because of the weight they need to be packed in pairs. So I have to go out and re-pack them all and put the labels back on in the correct place.
Time spent: 40 Minutes.
Finally the "AM" collection chap turns up at 13:40 this afternoon and says "No I am not taking these, the consignment paperwork says they are 40cm x 40cm by 20cm"
To which I reply. Well the one I have says it's 4 x Tyres buddy so unless they are for a shopping trolley I seriously doubt it.
Eventually he rings the depot and they decide that he can take them but if the paperwork is indeed incorrect they'll be charging the customer £100.
In contrast when I booked MD Couriers to do an identical job last week:
- Quote received within 1 hour of a PM being sent on here
- Waybills pre-printed and already in a sticky document wallet received within 18 hours of the booking
- All paperwork done right first time and delivery picked up and delivered when I was told it would be.
Will definitely be using MD Couriers again

wow wow there are you saying MD sent you the labels pre printer, Dave I'm sending you a printer ink bill
Seriously though, anyone that has ever had anything from me will know I always use MD, the agro saved for so little extra is immeasurable
as an example, I now have to drive to an APC depot 25 miles from my house for a parcel I have bought.
I had no control over the courier used, I cannot specify a safe place to leave it or leave a signed note asking for it to be dropped off etc, only arrange a redelivery to my house knowing I'll not be in or drive an pick it up Altox GSM FBH controller thread

I had ordered a clutch kit from a well known parts supplier who sent it by a certain courier and never arrived. When contacting the supplier who then contacted the courier who replied that they had left it in the wheelie bin outside the house. Well checked the bin and no package so again they sent another clutch kit and again did not arrive but the courier said they had delivered it and said they left in the dog kennel. I know I do not have a dog or a dog kennel so said do not send another as this time I will collect it from the Glasgow branch which I did. A week later a knock at the door and a women with a clutch kit who found it in her bin as she had just returned from holiday and lived about a mile away. And a few days after that a chap with a dog and a partly chewed package said his dog had found this and he was baffled how his dog got hold of it as he lived on the other side of Cumbernauld.
Well one thing I was Yodelling whilst waiting for my packages to arrive and never again. Since then the 2 clutch kits have been sold on EBay.

That means I have to buy things to sell to ship. Might be cheaper buying a box of them myself from ebay. Don't worry, I'll get ya to deliver them for me

I recommended Big Dave to another company I work with who also have a person called Big Dave. Once the argument over who the real Big Dave was finished, I only got praise from them on his services.
