the discovery 3 got a direct hit by a howitzer in the screen on the motorway friday night. the sound was immense. it has left the screen with a foot long crack. insurance has organised the auto windscreen type people to fit a replacement for my 100 excess on friday. its my day off so I'm in whilst they fit it. are there any issues i need to keep an eye out for? does the heated screen add any problems? the rain sensors above the mirror? is there a history of leaking screens after replacement? in fact is it a problem job or fitted in an hour and no trouble? thanks, john. You need to check the auto wipers and lights while the fitters are still there.
I had a nightmare with a BMW 5 series a few years ago. Ended up having to get the system reset by BMW for a nice fee of course
You should also check the heated screen, but I'm not sure how you're going to manage this!
Maybe boil a kettle in the car or some other activity to get it steamed up Lee

I'd certainly say that you/they need to be careful when removing the A-pillar trims/covers as they can cause leaks if damaged (the mounting lugs can snap which allows water into the vehicle). Similarly, if the mounting clips/lugs are damaged then the covers can come off at high speed/cross winds (and it sounds horrendous - deffo a change of underwear moment ) Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

There is something in my hazy memory that says they should replace all the fixings for A frame covers
...and, yes, they certainly do cause and increase in heartbeat when they come off at 70+

I have had a right nightmare with mine - not to worry you!
After my windscreen was replaced I had a few problems
I lost an external a-trim
Internal trim kept falling off
Had water flooding in
and to top it off the tape they used took the paint off the roof
All fixed but never been the same since!

so the man has just been and fitted the screen with no dramas at all. all the trim was ok,clips all intact. took him two hours start to finish. very thorough too. he checked everything all worked and cleaned up everything. apparently the screen had been swapped before. looks a treat now so lets hope theres no leaks or other issues now. I got mine changed recently on my D4 and they managed to wipe my music hard drive while at it. Very strange.

A mobile unit from Autoglass replaced the screen on my previous D4 about 10 months ago.
It was as good as new. IIRC, he used new trims as well. Either way I'd not have known the difference other than the LR logo wasn't on the replacement screen. Same manufacturer though.
Probably pot luck as to how good the individual fitter is. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
