just returned from oxford after a few smashing days away
our d4 5000 miles developed a strange one on the way home
AV FUEL gauge was all over the place from 14 to 99 and back again...
its clearly lost it

Are you sure you didn't have the instant fuel on display as opposed to the average?
That would bounce all over the shop.
